WFPB Enthusiast Dr. Greger & Lavender Essential Oil for Migraines

I love Dr. Greger and his book “How Not To Die.”  I also love this new post from him on Lavender Essential Oil and Migraine Relief.   I use Lavender Essential Oil for many issues and am grateful it is getting some spot light on it’s power of pain relief.  If you’d like some Lavender Essential Oil message me.

Skin ~ Pain ~ Sick ~ Mood

I tend to go for the Citrus & Trees.  I love the Wild Orange, Citrus Bliss & Lemon for their uplifting and motivating benefits.

Flowers: Reach for floral oils as they contain powerful benefits to healing and improving the overall appearance of your skin. They can reduce the appearance of fine lines, spots, scars, and any dry skin irritations.

Trees: Reach for the tree oils when looking to provide muscular/inflammation/pain relief. Think Frankincense, Cypress, and even Copaiba. These oils have a unique ability to affect muscles and connective tissue to support muscular function on a cellular level.

Herbs: These oils contain anti microbial, antibacterial, antiseptic and antiviral properties. Applying them topically or taking them internally will help bring the immune system back to balance and keep you healthy. Cinnamon, Oregano, Black Pepper are top oils in this category.

Citrus: Looking for some mood support? Turn to citrus oils. They have a unique way of providing a calming yet uplifting effect to your mind and body. Add Wild Orange to your water for emotional support throughout the day. Or diffuse Bergamot for the ultimate stress relief.

5 Benefits of Dry Skin Brushing

Did you know that 75 to 90 percent of all doctors office visits are related to conditions caused by stress? When you are stressed, it causes changes in the hormones that can increase inflammation and trigger various other problems. If you experience stress over a long period of time, it can be dangerous and is capable of increasing the risk for heart disease, diabetes, weight gain or obesity, mental disorders, autoimmune diseases, digestive disorders and even cancer.

Therefore, finding ways to help eliminate stress is crucial. Dry brushing is an easy way that you can do this for yourself!

1. Exfoliates Dead Skin

When in your teens and 20s, dry brushing isn’t necessary because the skin automatically renews itself. However, as you get older, it is helpful to exfoliate once or twice week to help renew the skin and remove those dead skin cells so that you have a fresher appearance and healthier skin.

It’s important to do this gently so that you do not tear the skin. You don’t want to break down the skin’s protective layer or cause irritation to sensitive skin, which could get infected. Exfoliating too much can also dehydrate the skin, which is that last thing you want to do. (3)

2. Stimulates the Lymphatic System

Because your skin helps to detoxify the body, it’s important to keep it healthy so that it can do its job. However, if your skin has too many toxins or dead skin cells, it may not be able to eliminate waste from your body as efficiently as needed.

Dry brushing your skin can help your lymphatic system, which has the job of removing toxins from the body and ultimately helps prevent you from getting sick. When inflammation builds up in the body, it can cause the body to struggle to fight off that inflammation. If the skin is healthy, it can help release those toxins so that the body is not having to work so hard to rid itself of them.

3. Reduces Cellulite

Everyone hates cellulite, and it seems to be so hard to lose. Cellulite is the appearance of cottage cheese skin predominantly seen on the legs, butt, stomach and back of the arms. It’s often caused by fluid retention, lack of circulation, weak collagen structure and increased body fat in addition to hormonal imbalances, medical conditions, genetics, poor diet and toxicity.

Cellulite is most common in adolescent and adult women, but men can have it, too. While there are many claims to treatments, dry brushing may help stimulate the cells and break down toxins from beneath the skin, which may act as a natural remedy for cellulite.

4. Unclogs Pores

Dr. Cynthia Thaik, MD, a Harvard-trained cardiologist and author of Your Vibrant Heart tells us that over time, your pores can get clogged with dead skin cells, pollutants and cosmetics. This causes the liver and kidneys to work really hard to get rid of impurities. Dry skin brushing unclogs your skin’s pores and helps your skin absorb more nutrients, which promotes healthy skin and allows those toxins to release a bit easier.

5. Offers Stress Relief

Another benefit of dry brushing is that it’s similar to massage in decreasing stress, which is great for your health by eliminating anxiety. A study reported that whole body massage was effective in reducing anxiety and stabilizing vital signs of patients with acute coronary disorders. (5) Dry brushing is similar to massage in helping you to relax, yet is far cheaper since you can do it yourself.

Much like a hand massage, dry brushing can provide much needed natural stress relief. When you are less stressed, your body heals much faster from any disease-causing inflammation that it may be have.

Bye Bye Candles…Hello Diffuser!

I am a recovering Yankee Candle addict.  I burned candles all the time.  From the minute I woke up until I went to bed.  Even forgot about them and left the house.  Thank God I never burned the house down.

So how does an avid candle user stop?  Oils & Education.  I love my essential oils for their support of our health & emotions.  And I love them for their yummy smells.  You can support your health, clean the air, and uplift your mood all with diffusing oils.   But the kicker was the education.  Learning how toxic candles are to our health is what made the switch so easy.  I would never intentionally harm my families health.  And for years of burning candles that is exactly what I was doing.  Polluting our home with chemicals and who know what else.  When we know better we do better, right?

Did I mention it is cheaper?  A bottle of Lemon doTERRA Essential Oil is $10 wholesale.  There are over 250 drops in the 15ml bottle.  I only use 2 drops in my Petal diffuser that runs from 4 hours.  That is only 8 cents.  Pretty awesome!

Here are my favorite diffusers.  Both have on/off light options and shut off automatically when they run out of water.  So no worries with burning down the house like with candles.  The Petal is much more pleasing to the eye.  But I have & use both.

Holiday Stress?

Emotional Aromatherapy?  I started diffusing so the house smells good.  But now I also make myself & other feel better too.

Intense. Anxious. Depressive. Stressed. Overwhelmed. Nervous. Frustrated.
Not “Happy Holiday” feelings.

This time of year seems to bring many of us into a place of anxious feelingsTrying to meet our own & others expectations is challenging.  Now it doesn’t have to stay that way!

Oftentimes, memories of Christmas’ past can be sad, or cause pain, and not be the joyful reminders that others would expect.
Our thoughts, memories, and feelings should be observed, respected, and explored, but your mind does not have to settle there.

Take care of you today, and every day, as we get closer to this “Most Wonderful Time of the Year”.  Essential oils are not only physically, and medicinally supportive, a large part of the effectiveness of doTERRA essential oils resides within their emotional benefits. They can support you to recognize, address and release unwanted emotions.

Meet your body and mind where it’s at.  That’s good mental health.
